People in Islam: Week 15:10 – Qari Youssef Edghouch
Because I’m particularly picky with Quran recitations (since I myself aspire to be a hafitha of the Quran inshaAllah), listening to Qari Youssef has been spiritually motivating and very helpful when memorizing Quran. Brother Youssef Edghouch, a born native of Morocco in the capital city of Rabat, has been a hafith of Quran since a very young age. Not only has he memorized the Quran and participates in several country-wide recitation events, but he also reads the Quran in two forms (out of seven, Warsh an Nafi and Hafs an Aasim).
Apart from the fact that Qari Youssef has an amazing talent (and wonderful blessings), he utilizes his gifts and recites across the country for events and lectures. At the age of sixteen, Youssef led salat at-Taraweeh since moving to the United States. He subsequently, sources say, moved to North Carolina where he worked with the youth and the community there. He taught in their School as well as their Quran memorization school. Later, he moved to Texas and became heavily involved in the Islamic Institute of Orange County in 2005. Currently,Qari Youssef is Assistant Imam and a director of Quranic School at IIOC in california USA ,and teaches memorization, recitation and tajweed.
